Three Underrated TV Shows Actually Worth Your Time

Television was much simpler back when it was just Cartoon Network on Saturdays and cereal on the couch with your parents. Now that there are so many different streaming platforms to choose from, it can be overwhelming at times to keep up with the constant onslaught of new media. So here is a list of the three most underrated TV series.

First up, we have the show “For All Mankind.” Hailing from Apple TV+, this TV series is a fantastic space adventure. However, unlike other fantastical sci-fi series that might include interstellar travel and teleportation, this show stays close to home in content within the realms of reasonable scientific progress. The TV show begins in the era of the space race, but quickly evolves to incorporate modern ideas and practices. Frequent nods to real life events and actions can be seen throughout this show and the scientific accuracy is scarily accurate. The show is not only space-related, however, as the show explores politics, drama, romance, and mystery aspects of the show that give it a very well-rounded feel. This show is great to binge watch incrementally, and with a fourth season having just come out November 10, you will have a lot of content to keep you satisfied. No more spoilers, but this lands at an 8.8 out of 10.

The next show on the list is called “Lost in Space.” Beginning in 2018 on Netflix, this show was an immediate hit. Set in a post-apocalyptic  era, all of humanity is left hurtling through space, looking for a new home. The show mainly follows the Robinson family, but there are some very interesting side plots and side characters who clearly were given just as much love in designing their backstories and relation to other characters. The Robinsons run into all sorts of challenges in their quest across space, looking for a new home. Additionally, this show has some of the greatest plot twists ever on television. Netflix rates this as a great show for most ages, as there is limited swearing and pg and rarely pg-13 content scattered throughout the show. Overall, this show lands at a 9 on my scale.

Finally, veering away from space, we have “Money Heist.” Originally filmed for Spanish television, this series has been translated into English and put onto Netflix for the enjoyment of English speakers worldwide. There are some good heist plans and movies, but nothing has compared to this show. The plans are extremely intricate, the characters are diverse in personality, and there are multiple side plots and backstories that are revealed throughout the show. Throughout the five seasons, the team pulled off not only one but two major heists, each taking weeks and eventually culminating in what many consider to be the greatest season finale in television history. The icing on the cake is that this show has been remade and dubbed in multiple different languages with new casts and heists. There is just so much to be had from this show; however, it is certainly not a family-friendly show, as there is suggestive content and lots of foul language.
